What we do

One side of the transaction.
Paid by that side.

We represent one party in a physical oil, gas or petroleum product transaction, normally the seller, and are paid by that party.

Our role

Prepared on our side,
so the other side
can proceed.

A physical cargo transaction between two established companies involves a counterparty file, specifications, inspection, shipping documents and payment terms, and usually several people on each side. Ztrade’s job is to make sure that the side we represent is prepared, consistent and responsive, so that the counterparty can run its own process without delay.

We do not sit between the parties on the contract. The seller and the buyer sign with each other.

Scope
Products

Crude oil, natural gas (LNG and LPG) and refined products: gasoline, naphtha, jet fuel, diesel (including ULSD), gasoil, fuel oil (HSFO and VLSFO), bitumen and other petroleum products.

Transactions

Cargo-size physical sales, spot and term, FOB or CIF under Incoterms 2020, on the buyer’s or the seller’s standard terms.

Counterparties

Established suppliers and producers’ resellers on the sell side; trading houses, refiners and large end users on the buy side.

Not included

Trading for our own account, financing, price or quality assessments, and any offer that cannot be verified against documents.

Client &
counterparty relationships

We work with the client to define the transaction and the counterparties it needs, open the dialogue from company email addresses and keep it going between individual discussions.

  • Clarify the commercial requirement, the client’s role and the decision-maker with authority to sign.
  • Identify and approach suitable counterparties.
  • Maintain contact and follow-up as opportunities develop.

The relationship provides continuity across individual discussions and successive opportunities.

Due
diligence support

We collect and check the client’s own counterparty file before anyone else sees it: company registration, ownership to natural persons, proof of the supply or purchase entitlement, bank reference and policies.

  • Organise the corporate and transaction information for the agreed review.
  • Check completeness and consistency and resolve gaps before submission.
  • Coordinate questions and follow-up with the counterparty and the client’s advisers.

Specialist opinions and acceptance decisions remain with the counterparty, its advisers and any finance provider.

Onboarding
coordination

Trading houses and banks run their own counterparty onboarding. We prepare the client for it and keep the process moving.

  • Clarify what each receiving party requires and who answers for it.
  • Prepare and submit the requested documents through the agreed channels.
  • Track outstanding requests until the onboarding decision is made.

Each receiving party applies its own requirements and makes its own onboarding decision.

Transaction
coordination

From indicative offer to executed contract, we keep the information, the responsibilities and the next steps in one place.

  • Coordinate the inquiry, the offer and the information requests between the parties.
  • Track agreed actions, document requirements and open points.
  • Keep the client, the counterparty and the specialists involved informed.

Our involvement follows the written scope and can cover selected workstreams or a broader coordination role.

Trade
finance coordination

Where the transaction needs financing, we define the requirement with the client and prepare the information a bank or other provider will ask for.

  • Clarify the funding need and the commercial context.
  • Prepare the transaction information and the financing request.
  • Coordinate the dialogue and follow-up with potential providers.

Financing is provided only by external parties, subject to their own assessment, terms and approval. Ztrade does not finance transactions.

What we do not do

Four things
we leave out.

  • We do not trade for our own account and do not take title to cargo.
  • We do not provide financing, guarantees or credit.
  • We do not circulate offers, procedures or document chains that cannot be verified against the underlying contracts.
  • We do not name counterparties, volumes or completed transactions publicly. References are given with written consent only.
